MOUNTIES WIN AMCC ROUND ROBIN; CAPTURE REGULAR SEASON TITLE
The Mount Aloysius College women's bowling team won the second AMCC Round Robin of the season with an overall record of 7-1 this past weekend.
The Mount Aloysius College women's bowling team won the second AMCC Round Robin of the season with an overall record of 7-1 this past weekend. The Mounties edged host Penn State Altoona, who finished 6-2 over the two-day round robin competition at Holiday Bowl. The Mounties finish the AMCC regular season with an overall record of 14-2 to capture the AMCC regular season title.
Penn St. Altoona, Mount Aloysisus and Medaille were all tied at 3-1 after day one. Head to head win/loss tiebreak criteria did not solve the logjam but the Lady Lions got the edge with in total pinfall head to head, followed by Medaille and then Mount Aloysius. However, it was the Mounties who finished strongest on day two to surpass Penn St. Altoona for the top spot.
In Sunday's Baker (best 4 of 7 format) competition, the Mounties went 4-0 as they defeated Pitt-Bradford (4-0), New Jersey City University (4-0), Medaille College (4-0) and clinched first place with their best performance in a 4-2 win over Altoona.
Medaille senior Tallie Papke led all bowlers with a 179 average in the team bowling format, followed by Mount Aloyius freshman Rayissa Amon (176.25) and Penn St. Altoona junior Brea Suchonic (174.25). Papke also posted the single game high of 219 in the Mounties' win over Pitt-Bradford.
The AMCC bowling championship tournament, hosted by Medaille College, will take place February 6-7 at Classic Lanes in Kenmore, NY.
