BOWLERS GEAR UP FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP
The AMCC women's bowling championship kicks off on Friday afternoon, as the winner will receive the conference's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA national tournament.
The AMCC women's bowling championship kicks off on Friday afternoon, as the winner will receive the conference's first-ever automatic bid to the NCAA national tournament. The mega match, double-elimination tournament will run from Friday through Sunday at Sim's Lanes in Beaver Falls, PA, with the first matches taking place at 4:00 p.m. Friday afternoon. Top-seeded Medaille College will face off with #4 Pitt-Bradford, while #2 Mount Aloysius College will take on #3 Saint Vincent College.
The Mavericks earned the #1 seed of the tournament after going 13-1 during the regular season and taking first place in both AMCC Round Robins. Morgan Walsh leads Medaille, and ranks second in the AMCC with a 19.3 Baker average, while also ranking third in the AMCC with a 177.6 traditional average throughout the course of the season. Carla Hansen recorded a 173.0 traditional average and 18.58 in Baker play.
Mount Aloysius and Saint Vincent both finished the regular season with 11-3 records in conference play. While the Mounties and Bearcats split head-to-head, Mount Aloysius earned the higher seed based on TPF from both round robins combined, which was 1945 for the Mounties vs. 1757 for the Bearcats.
Mount Aloyisus senior Rayissa Amon, three-time AMCC Bowler of the Year, leads the conference with a 191.4 traditional average. Amon also leads the Mounties with 182.6 Baker average.
Saint Vincent sophomore Dani Koehler had a big year for the Bearcats, as she leads the AMCC with a 20.21 Baker average and her 185.4 traditional average ranks second.
Rounding out the field is #4 Pitt-Bradford, which finished the regular season with a 7-7 conference record. Sophomore Kelsey Hammons leads the Panthers with a 17.6 Baker average and a 167.7 traditional average.
