SAINT VINCENT REMAINS UNDEFEATED AFTER DAY 2 OF ROUND ROBIN
The Saint Vincent College women's bowling team posted a perfect 5-0 record on day two of the AMCC Round Robin, hosted by Medaille University at Classic Bowl in Buffalo, New York.
The Saint Vincent College women's bowling team posted a perfect 5-0 record on day two of the AMCC Round Robin, hosted by Medaille University at Classic Bowl in Buffalo, New York. The format for the day was a series of five Baker team games, with total pins in the five game set determining the winner.
Medaille University and Pitt-Bradford are tied for second place with 4-1 records, while New Jersey City University and Penn State Behrend are tied for fourth with 3-2 records to round out the top five.
The Bearcats started the day out strong, taking down Medaille University in the opening match of the day, 915-877. Medaille entered the week ranked #5 in the nation in the NCAA Division II-III poll, with the Bearcats at #13. In the second match of the day, SVC faced Penn State-Behrend and fell behind by nine pins after the first game, before finishing strong and winning the match by a score of 925-740. Matches three and four also went to the Bearcats, 911-637 over La Roche University, and 901-625 over William Smith College. SVC ended the day with an 867-708 win over Pitt-Bradford, a team that had entered the match with a 4-0 record on the day.
Jackie Koehler led the way for the Bearcarts, averaging 19.2. Kaitlyn Morrison finished at 18.6, followed by Olivia Emmonds (18,3) and Monique Koehler (17.4)
Medaille and Pitt-Bradford each finished with 4-1 records after day two. The Mavericks and Panthers each started out the tournament 1-0 on Friday evening, before going 3-1 on Saturday. Medaille's first match of the day was the loss to Saint Vincent, as they then recorded three straight wins over New Jersey City University (906-761), Penn State Behrend (935-845), and La Roche (1,012-646).
Sarah Radt was the top performer for the Mavs averaging 20.7 with a 789 pinfall. Paige Herndon finished with a 618 pinfall and a 19.3 average with Taylor Strickland adding a 556 and a 19.1 average.
Pitt-Bradford started Saturday out with a 760-656 win over Mount Aloysius College before taking down Penn State Altoona 918-634. The Panthers held on to their undefeated record in Round 5 with a victory over Hilbert (772-716) before falling to Saint Vincent (708-867) in their final match of the day.
Bowlers will return to action Sunday morning at Classic Lanes to wrap up the AMCC Round Robin.
