BOWLERS WRAP UP DAY ONE OF AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP
After day one of the AMCC Bowling Championship, #1 Saint Vincent College and #2 William Smith College remain undefeated heading into day two of competition tomorrow morning at Pines Plaza Lanes in Pittsburgh, PA.

Match 1: #3 Pitt-Bradford d. #6 Pitt-Greensburg
In Match#1, third seeded Pitt-Bradford defeated #6 Pitt-Greensburg to advance to the afternoon round of the AMCC championship tournament. The Panthers started out with a an 866-771 victory over the Bobcats in the traditional team format, with Pitt-Bradford's Mackenzie Gill leading the way with a 214. Pitt-Greensburg came back in the Baker 5 Game TPF, escaping with a narrow 757-733 win to force the Baker Best-of-7 tiebreaker match. Pitt-Bradford won the first match of the series 191-140 before the Panthers and Bobcats finished game two in a 158-deadlock. Pitt-Bradford took game three 172-158 and game four 149-130 to take a commading 3.5-0.5 lead. Pitt-Greensburg then proceeded to take the next three games by the scores of 159-142, 156-145, and 136-125 to tie the series at 3.5-all after seven games. The Bobcats and Panthers went to a roll-off, where the Bobcats prevailed 91-74 to take the series and the mega match.
With the win, Pitt-Bradford advanced to the afternoon double elimination round to take on #2 William Smith College.
Match 2: #5 Hilbert d. #4 PS-Behrend
Hilbert College, playing in the program's very first AMCC postseason tournament, upset the fourth-seeded Penn State Behrend Lions in the morning mega match. Julia Stutz led the Hawks with a 217 in the traditional team format to lead Hilbert to a 835-768 victory to open the mega match. Penn State Behrend rebounded nicely in the Baker 5 Game TPF match, as the Lions outscored the Hawks 957-773 to even the series at one-all. Entering the Baker Best-of-7 series, Behrend jumped out to a quick 2-0 lead with 148-125 and 179-155 victories. Hilbert came storming back, outscoring the Lions in the next four straight games, 183-161, 158-126, 169-157, and then a 168-156 victory to seal the deal and advance to the afternoon round of matches. With the loss in the first round of matches, Penn State Behrend has been eliminated from the tournament.
Hilbert advanced into the double elimination match on Friday afternoon against #1 Saint Vincent College.
Match 3: #1 Saint Vincent d. #5 Hilbert
Top seed Saint Vincent took on Hilbert in the other Friday afternoon matchup, scoring a victory in the traditional team format by winning 999-821. The Bearcats got two strong performaces from Skyy Nicholls and Mareana Pilyih, recording scores of 237 and 236, respectively. Hilbert continued to battle in the Baker 5 Game TPF series, taking the first two games 171-157 and 226-179 to go up 397-336 after two. Saint Vincent came back in game three with a 205-168 victory, but Hilbert outscored the Bearcats again in the fourth game, 179-147 to hold a 744-688 lead heading into the fifth and final game. Saint Vincent poured it on in game five, outscoring the Hawks 228-166, and taking the slim 916-910 TPF win, as well as the mega match victory.
With the win, Saint Vincent advances in the winners bracket to take on William Smith in the Saturday morning matchup, while Hilbert will face Pitt-Bradford in the elimination match.
Match 4: #2 William Smith d. #3 Pitt-Bradford
In the afternoon matchup, second seed William Smith started out with a strong 879-701 win over Pitt-Bradford, as the Herons were led by a 203 from Brooke Gervais. William Smith went on to win the Baker 5 Game TPF series by a total score of 862-810 to advance in the winners bracket entering Saturday morning.
The Herons will take on top seed Saint Vincent College when they return to the lanes tomorrow morning.
