#1 SAINT VINCENT AND #3 ALVERNIA TO CLASH IN AMCC TITLE MATCH
#1 Saint Vincent College and #3 Alvernia University will face off on Sunday at 9:30am to determine the 2026 AMCC Women's Bowling Champion. The Bearcats remain undefeated in the championship tournament, while the Golden Wolves enter the final day of competition with one loss.
Match 5: #1 Saint Vincent d. #2 William Smith
Saint Vincent won their first mega match of the day, punching their ticket to the AMCC title game, slated for Sunday morning. The Bearcats started out with a 988-957 win in traditional play. Saint Vincent had three bowler hit 200 or higher, including Skyy Nicholls with a221, Lilly Houle with a 215, and a 200 from Mara Pilyih. Caitlyn Anschutz led the Herons with a 213. The Bearcats also took the Baker 5 Game TPF series by an overall score of 934-912. Saint Vincent dropped the first (184-192) and the last (158-181) games in the series, but won the three in the middle (176-165, 222-191, and 194-183) to take the 2-0 win in the mega match and advance to the AMCC championship match.
Match 6: #3 Alvernia d. #5 Hilbert
Alvernia and Hilbert entered Saturday morning's elimination match in a win-or-go-home situation. The match lived up the hype, being the first mega match on the weekend going to the Baker Best-of-7 tiebreaker. Hilbert started out strong, taking the traditional team format by a score of 939-837. Paige Aucker led the Golden Wolves with a 204, while Hilbert's Paige Mullen recorded a game-high of 229. The Baker 5 game series stayed tight throughout, but it was Alvernia who pulled it out in the end, taking the series 894-883. With the mega match tied at one-all, the two teams advanced to the Baker Best-of-7 series to determine the overall winner. Alvernia took games one and two (168-149 and 215-173), but Hilbert came back in the third game with a 169-144 victory to make the series 2-1. Hilbert once again took game four, 196-167, to even the series at 2-2. Alvernia won game five (185-175) to take the 3-2 edge before a 167-159 victory in game six gave them the 4-2 series lead, clinching both the best-of-7 series and the mega match overall.
Match 7: #3 Alvernia d. #2 William Smith
#3 Alvernia faced two separate elimination matches on Saturday, walking away triumphant in both, advancing to the AMCC Championship match on Sunday morning. William Smith took the early lead with a 958-823 victory in the traditional team format. The Herons were led by Colleen Jump's 226 and Brooke Gervais' 201, while Mia Siminitus carried the Golden Wolves with a 202. Alvernia stormed back in the Baker 5 game series, taking the series 932-875 to even the mega match at one-all. Alvernia won the first three Baker matches of the series before dropping the fourth. They bounced back with a 202-159 win in the fifth game of the series giving them the 932-875 lead overall, and forcing the Baker Best-of-7 series to determine the winner of the mega match. Alvernia took the 1-0 series lead with a 188-161 victory in game one, until William Smith came back with a 207-181 victory of their own to even the series 1-1. William Smith took game three 193-171 for the 2-1 lead, until Alvernia took the next three games (192-158, 179-170, 244-189) to take the series 4-2 and also claim the mega match victory.
The championship match between #1 Saint Vincent and #3 Alvernia will begin at 9:30am Sunday morning. Due to Saint Vincent entering the final day undefeated, should Alvernia win Match 8, we will then square-off with an additional, and final, Baker Best-of-7 series to determine the champion.
