WILLIAM SMITH CROWNED AMCC ROUND ROBIN #2 CHAMPS
After a three-way tie for first place, William Smith College rose to the top of the standings of the second AMCC round robin of the season to be crowned the event's champion. William Smith, Saint Vincent College, and Alvernia University all finished with 5-1 records this weekend. With all three teams beating each other, the next tiebreak criteria went to total pinfall in matches played amongst each other. William Smith knocked down a high of 1812 to claim the top spot. Saint Vincent was second with 1809 pins, and Alvernia picked up the third spot with 1698 pins.
With a 3-3 record on the weekend was Penn State Behrend in fourth place, while Hilbert College finished in fifth after going 2-4. Pitt-Bradford was fifth with a 1-5 record while Pitt-Greensburg rounded out the field with an 0-6 record.
William Smith was led by senior Caitlyn Anschutz, who averaged a 202.17 on the weekend, including a single-game high of 247, while also adding a 222 and a 203, for a third-best ranking in the conference. Michaela Morgan ranked ninth with a 174.5 average and Brooke Gervais was right behind her with an average of 173.5.
Saint Vincent sophomore Brooke Street led all bowlers in the weekend tournament, with a total of 1243 pins, an average of 207.2 over six games. Mara Pilyih averaged 188, while Kaylie Kurland averaged 186.5 to round out the top three for the Bearcats.
Alvernia was led throughout the weekend by Lacey Slaymaker, who finished second amongst all bowlers with an average of 206.17 across all seven games. Kailynn Jones was ranked fifth with an average of 186, and Mia Siminitus was sixth with an average of 185.67.
Penn State Behrend's Lillie Holt finished fourth overall with a 189.0 average, knocking down a weekend high of 213 against St. Vincent. Dee Dee Elijah ranked 13th overall with a 170.17 average, recording a high of 176 in the first match against Hilbert.
Leading Hilbert was Brooklyn Hannah and Paige Angle, who averaged 173.33 and 173.17, respectively. Sara Paryz led Pitt-Bradford with a 159.0 average on the weekend, while Emma Pablic topped Pitt-Greensburg with 149.83.
