WELLS CLAIMS AMCC WOMEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP TITLE
Wells College claimed its first AMCC conference title on Saturday morning when the Express women's lacrosse team defeated Mount Aloysius College 19-7 in the championship match.
Wells came out of the gates hot and never looked back. The Express led 4-0 after the first quarter and held an 8-3 advantage at halftime. They poured it on with seven more goals in the third quarter, to two Mountie goals, for a 15-5 lead heading into the final frame. Wells talled four more goals, while Mount Aloysius added an additional two, to set the 19-7 final score.
Wells freshman Logan Lomonaco led all scorers with seven goals, while also adding a game-high three assists. Lydia Thomas and Lomonaco each earned four ground balls while freshman midfielder Hannah Lamont recorded 15 draw controls to lead the Express to victory. Senior goalkeeper Lauren Spiegel recorded five saves in goal for the Express.
