#1 ALFRED STATE, #2 PITT-BRADFORD TO MEET IN WOMEN'S LACROSSE CHAMPIONSHIP
#1 Alfred State College and #2 Pitt-Bradford each earned First Round victories in the AMCC Women's Lacrosse Championship Tournament to advance to the title game, slated for 1:00pm on Saturday at Alfred State.

Top-seeded Alfred State shut out #4 seed La Roche 11-0 in the semifinals to advance to the AMCC Women's Lacrosse Championship.
Karlee Hargather led the Pioneers with three goals, one assist, and eight ground balls, while Katerina Strong added three goals and two assists. Alaina Gernatt and Kari Annuziato each finished with two goals and one assist. Maeve Runyon earned the shutout win in goal, making four saves.
Alfred State set the tone early, scoring three goals in the first five minutes, with Hargather scoring first. Annunziato scored a man-up goal assisted by Strong, and Gernatt extended the lead with a goal assisted by Annunziato. Hargather netted her second goal on a pass from Gernatt, making the lead 4-0 at the end of the first quarter.
Early in the second, Hargather completed her hat trick, on an assist from Regan Curraba. Annunziato added another man-up goal, assisted by Strong, and Strong scored her first, assisted by Hargather, extending the lead 7-0 going into half.
Strong opened the second half with back-to-back goals, completing her hat trick. Gernatt notched her second goal, assisted by Curraba, and Brooke Walsh finished the scoring for the Pioneers at the end of the third. Both teams held each other scoreless in the fourth quarter.
Alfred State moves on and will host the AMCC Women's Lacrosse Championship on Saturday, April 25, at 1 PM, facing the winner of No. 3 Mt. Aloysius and No. 2 Pitt-Bradford.
#2 Pitt-Bradford 8, #3 Mount Aloysius 7
In an AMCC Women's Lacrosse Semifinal matchup, #2 seed Pitt-Bradford used a dominant second-half surge to pull away from #3 seed Mount Aloysius and secure a spot in the conference championship game.
Mount Aloysius struck first and controlled much of the opening half, building an early advantage behind a balanced offensive effort. The Mounties took a 4-2 lead over the Panthers at the half.
Despite that early momentum, Pitt-Bradford continued to battle in the second half. The Panthers tightened up defensively and capitalized on scoring opportunities, outpacing the Mounties in the final two quarters to take control. Both teams added two goals a piece in the third quarter with the Mounties holding on to ta 6-4 advantage heading into the final quarter.
Pitt-Bradford took control in the fourth, outscoring Mount Aloysius 4-1, edging out the Mounties by an 8-7 final.
Samantha Burke led the Panthers with a hat trick on the night, while Olivia Garcia added two more goals. The Panthers saw one goal a piece from Addison Molampy, Zinette Zigler, and and Chrsitina Abel. Pitt-Bradford goalkeeper Lily Thuman recorded 12 saves in picking up the win.
Mount Aloysius was led by Shelby Smeal and Chelsea Stout, who each recorded three goals and an assist, while Sara Borlie and Cassidy Cook also contributed scores. Goalkeeper Keira Murray added nine saves to keep the Mounties competitive throughout.
#1 Alfred State and #2 Pitt-Bradford will square off for the AMCC title on Saturday, April 25 at 1:00 p.m. on the campus of Alfred State College.
