WRESTLERS SET FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP ON SATURDAY

Alfred State College is looking to repeat last year's success, as the Pioneers won seven of the 10 weight classes last year. ASC will be led by senior Elijah Moshenek who has been successful in the 133 class this year, along with the reigning AMCC Freshman of the Year and 184 Champion Brent Perry. Moshenek has tallied 25 wins this season with nine falls and three major decision wins. Perry has notched 20 wins with nine falls and two major decisions.
Penn College heads into its second AMCC Championship with a 7-1 dual meet record and four top-five tournament finishes this season. The Wildcats return seven grapplers and five podium finishers from the 2024 AMCC runner-up squad including 141-pound Champion, senior Noah Hunt and sophomore runner-ups Luke Heimbach (125) and TJ Martin (149). Hunt is on a five-match win streak with an 11-5 record on the season. Also in the lineup is junior 184-pounder Isaac Cory who enters the weekend as the No. 2 ranked wrestler in the NWCA Region 2 rankings. Cory missed much of his sophomore season last year due to injury but was a 2023 NCAA qualifier. Cory also takes a five-match win streak into the championship and holds a 9-5 overall record this season.
Penn State Altoona men’s wrestling, in its inaugural NCAA season, will be competing in its first AMCC Championship meet. The Lions have competed in six duals and two tournaments this season and are led in wins by freshman Andrew Weaver (184), who has posted four head-to-head victories. Fellow freshman Evan Davis (125) has two wins on the season.
The Behrend Lions are looking to improve on their third-place finish at last year’s championships. The Lions have a 3-1 record against the field of teams, only falling to Penn in dual-meet action. Freshman Rudy Brown leads the team with a 15-0 dual-meet record and a 16-2 overall mark at 157. Brown has five pins, four major decisions and three technical falls. Sophomore Nolan Fenton, wrestling at 197, is first with a 19-3 record and 11 pins this season. Junior Zach Dellinger is second on the team in pins (10) at 125 and Matt Caldwell has eight pins at 285. As a team, Behrend has 86 wins by fall, 30 by technical fall and 17 by major decision.
Pitt-Bradford enters the championship coming off of a sixth place finish at Lycoming's Allstate Invitational. This season they posted a 6-10 record in dual matches, including a 1-3 mark against AMCC opponents. They are led by juniors D.J. Slovick and Cameron Carter-Green. Slovick is 25-8 at 174 lbs. He has 15 pins, two tech falls and has earned podium spots at three of four invitationals. Carter-Green is 15-7 with seven pins, while earning podium positions at two events.
