The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team has been chosen by league coaches to defend their conference title in 2022, as the Lions claimed their 15th league title a season ago.
The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team has been chosen by league coaches to defend their conference title in 2022, as the Lions claimed their 15th league title a season ago. Pitt-Greensburg, who finished in the runner-up position a year ago, is expected to finish in second place, while Mount Aloysius College rounds out the top three in preseason rankings.
Pitt-Greensburg senior forward Ashley Lucas has been named the AMCC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Lucas was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2019 and 2021. She was named third team all-region in 2019 and was the AMCC Offensive Player of the Year in 2019. Lucas ranks as Pitt-Greensburg’s second-leading goal scorer (14) and is second in points (35) and assists (7). She finished last season ranked T-2nd in the AMCC in overall goals and second in points, shots (83), shots on goal (47) & T-3rd in assists.
Penn State Behrend senior goalkeeper Morgan Harding and Pitt-Greensburg junior defender Nylah Pannebaker have been tabbed as AMCC Preseason Co-Defensive Players of the Year.
Harding was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2021. She conceded zero AMCC goals and recorded an overall GAA of 0.32. Pannebaker was also a first team all-conference selection in 2021. She led her team in minutes played (1598) and anchored a backline that earned 11 Shutouts & allowed nine goals (only one during AMCC play) on the season, for a 0.47 GAA.
The AMCC championship will be held November 5 at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
