The AMCC women's soccer season kicks off this Saturday, as Penn State Behrend (3-4, 0-0 AMCC) and La Roche University (2-4-1, 0-0 AMCC) square off in the first AMCC Women's Soccer Game of the Week this season.
Penn State Behrend enters the Game of the Week coming off a 1-0 loss to No. 8 Case Western Reserve University. The Lions are led on the offensive end by senior M/F Mia Zec, who is tied for second in the AMCC with three goals, while junior F Trinity Prestash has added two goals of her own. Defensively, Behrend GK Riley Morningstar ranks second in the conference with a 1.86 goals-against average and sits third with 40 saves on the year and a .755 save percentage.
La Roche is coming off a 0-0 tie against Bethany College as they prepare for AMCC play begining this weekend. Freshman F Finnleigh Gould leads the Redhawks with two goals in the early season, as senior Alexandra Mecchia tops La Roche with two assists. Sophomore GK Julianna Hornikel has recorded 31 saves and ranks fourth in the conference wtih a 2.44 goals-against average.
