The Penn State Behrend women’s soccer team has been chosen by league coaches to claim the AMCC conference title after earning back-to-back titles in 2023 & 2024. Pitt-Greensburg is expected to finish in second place, while Penn State Altoona rounds out the top three in preseason rankings.
Pitt-Greensburg sophomore M/F Riley Gesinski has been named the AMCC Preseason Offensive Player of the Year. Gesinski was the 2024 AMCC Newcomer of the Year and an AMCC first team all-conference selection as a freshman. She was the conference leader in conference assists (7) and third in overall assists. She ranked second in conference points (17) and in conference points per game (2.13). She tied for second in conference game-winning Goals (2) and tied for fourth in conference goals (5). Gesinski started seven of eight AMCC matches, playing 488 minutes and registering a point in six of the eight conference games.
Penn State Behrend senior GK Riley Morningstar has been selected as the AMCC Pre-Season Defensive Player of the Year. Morningstar was an AMCC first team all-conference selection last season, while also picking up all-region honors. She started in 20 games between the pipes, making 38 saves and posting a 17-3 overall record. Morningstar was instrumental in 12 shutouts and tallied a 0.46 goals-against average. She gave up just one goal in conference play for a perfect 8-0 record.
The AMCC championship will be held November 8 at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
