The top seeded Lady Barons are seeking their fourth straight title and fifth in six years, while the #2 seed Mavericks are looking for their first.
Franciscan started the day by sweeping #4 D'Youville College, 5-0. Ana Victoria Hadad (#2 singles, #2 doubles) and Grace Hammel (#4 singles, #1 doubles) contributed a pair of wins each to earn the decision.
The Mavericks built an early 2-1 lead over #6 Penn St, Altoona, behind an 8-6 comeback win at #1 doubles by Jasmine Mott and Madison Knapp and another 8-6 battle at #3 doubles by Katherine Turner and Miranda Van Hout. The Lions' #2 duo of Tori Acker and Sophia Girol cruised to an 8-0 victory to put their team on the board.
Medaille got wins from Mott at #1 singles, Knapp at #2 singles, Katherine Turner at #5 singles to push them into the finals. Penn State Altoona saw positive results from Sophia Girol at #4 singles and #6 Katie Kruza to keep it close.
The championship match will be played at 1:30pm on Sunday at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA. The tournament winner will receive the AMCC's automatic bid to the NCAA Div. III tournament.
