WOMEN'S TENNIS PREPARES FOR AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP TOURNAMENT
The AMCC women's tennis championship tournament kicks off this Saturday at Westwood Racquet Club in Erie, PA. Top seed Penn State Behrend will take on No. 4 Mount Aloysius College at 3:30pm, while No. 2 Penn State Altoona will face No. 3 Pitt-Greensburg following the first match.
Penn State Behrend enters the tournament as the top seed with a perfect 5-0 record in conference play. The Lions picked up 5-0 records in singles play from Lindsey Kerlin (No. 4 singles), Lexa Maloney (No. 5 singles), and Enisa Siljkovic (No. 2 singles). The doubles pair of Lauren Burkley an Kerlin compiled a team-leading 3-1 record at the No. 2 doubles spot.
With a 4-1 record against AMCC teams, Penn State Altoona enters as the number two seed. Lexi Colaianni, Sienna Fell, Daniel Fulton, and Abigail Morgan all complied 4-1 records in singles play for the Lions. In doubles action, Colaianni and Fulton teamed up to lead Altoona with a 4-1 record.
Pitt-Greensburg, with a 3-2 record against conference teams, enters the tournament as the number three seed. Leading the Bobcats with 2-1 records in conference play, include Gabi Moder (No. 1 singles), Karen Rabe (No. 2 singles), and Nancy Jiang (No. 3 singles). Doubles partners Moder and Jiang (No. 1 doubles) and Rabe and Sophia Lepore (No. 2 doubles) each picked up 2-1 records in doubles play, as well.
Rounding out the field is number four seed Mount Aloysius with a 2-3 conference mark. Amelia Miller is the only Mountie to record three wins in singles play against AMCC teams, going 3-0 between the No. 5 and No. 6 positions. In doubles play, Caylie Conlon and Morgan Allen (No. 1 doubles) and Julia Davis and Lauryn Kitchen (No. 2 doubles) each went 3-1 against AMCC competition.
The winners of Saturday's matches will square off on Sunday at 1:30pm for the AMCC Championship.
