Penn State Altoona junior outside hitter Amanda Hammer was awarded with Player of the Week status by both the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference and the Eastern College Athletic Conference's South Region on Wednesday.
Penn State Altoona junior outside hitter Amanda Hammer was
awarded with Player of the Week status by both the Allegheny
Mountain Collegiate Conference and the Eastern College Athletic
Conference's South Region on Wednesday.
In two matches last week, Hammer totaled 23 kills (3.83 kills per
set), 11 digs (1.83 digs per set), and seven total blocks (1.17
blocks per set) while recording a hitting percentage of .245.
In a loss to Shenandoah University last Tuesday, Hammer put up 14
kills (4.67 kills per set) and hit at a .257 clip, adding one solo
block and one block assist. In Saturday's win over Dickinson
College, she had nine kills (3.00 kills per set) and also
contributed 10 digs (3.33 digs per set), one solo block, and four
block assists.
This is the first time in Hammer's career that she has been awarded
both the AMCC and ECAC Player of the Week honor.
