The Penn State Altoona women’s volleyball team’s 3-0
win over Albright College on Friday, October 10 represented a
milestone achievement for head coach Phil Peterman, as it marked
the 100th win of his career.
Peterman, an Altoona native and graduate of Saint Francis
University, is in his seventh season at the helm of Penn State
Altoona’s women’s volleyball program since his hiring
prior to the 2008 season. During his tenure, the Lady Lions have
experienced much success. In 2011, he led his team to the
program’s second-ever Allegheny Mountain Collegiate
Conference title, sweeping Pitt-Bradford 3-0 to clinch the
championship. That year, the team posted a perfect 9-0 record
within the AMCC, notched 18 wins overall, and qualified for berth
into the NCAA Division III Tournament.
Peterman also guided his team to Eastern College Athletic
Conference Tournament appearances in 2009 and 2010. During the 2010
campaign, the Lady Lions recorded a program-best 23 wins and
advanced into the semifinal round of the ECAC Tournament.
