FRANCISCAN, PENN ST. ALTOONA VOLLEYBALL EXPECTED TO FINISH AT TOP OF AMCC

Franciscan University and Penn State Altoona tied at the number one spot, each garnering the same number of votes in the preseason coaches’ poll. Penn State Behrend was projected to finish third, according to the AMCC coaches.

Franciscan senior libero Sam Kelly has been tabbed as the 2015 Preseason Player of the Year. Kelly was named first team all-conference as a freshman, sophomore, and junior. She has led the AMCC in digs per set for three straight seasons. She was named to the all-tournament team for both the 2014 St. Vincent Bearcat Challenge and the 2014 Wooster College Kit Classic. Kelly led Franciscan to their first AMCC championship in program history with 30 digs and five service aces in the championship match. She will be a Franciscan volleyball team captain this season. 

The AMCC Championship will be held November 8 at the site of the #1 seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
