John Czarnecki, Director of Athletics at Hilbert College, is pleased to announce that Christopher Krueger, the Hawks’ current men’s volleyball head coach, will serve as the head coach for the women’s volleyball program beginning this fall.
“I am excited to have Chris on board with us in the additional capacity as women’s volleyball coach. He showed an excellent ability at a young age to lead the men’s program so I am confident he will help the women’s team continue their successes,” said Czarnecki.
Krueger is ready for the challenge of a year-round collegiate coaching opportunity and has specific goals in mind as he begins to develop his duel programs.
“I am thrilled and grateful for the opportunity to coach both the women’s and men’s volleyball teams at Hilbert. I look forward to creating a new culture in the volleyball program as a whole,” said Krueger. “The men’s and women’s games do share similar tactics and strategies even though there are physical differences. Our women’s team will hit and block like men’s teams and our men’s team will play defense and scrap for every ball like women’s teams do.”
Along with his previous collegiate coaching experiences, Krueger will continue to drawing from his playing days to mold the Hawks program.
Prior to the 2015 season at Hilbert, Krueger served as an assistant coach for both the men’s and women’s volleyball programs at D’Youville College during the 2013-14 academic year. While there, he assisted in day-to-day operations in the gym and helped administratively prepare and keep both teams current in Division III volleyball.
Krueger was twice honored as a Second Team AMCC men’s volleyball player (2012 and 2013). He earned an AMCC Player of the Week honor as a senior and received D’Youville College’s Spartan Award. Krueger was a member of D’Youville’s SAAC and also volunteered at the Southtowns Volleyball Club for three seasons during his undergraduate years.
Krueger received a bachelor of science degree in exercise and sports studies from D’Youville College in 2013.
