BOBCATS PROMOTE SMITH TO HEAD WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL COACH
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is pleased to announce the hiring of Kylynn Smith as the new Head Coach of the women's volleyball program.
The University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg is pleased to announce the hiring of Kylynn Smith as the new Head Coach of the women's volleyball program.
Smith enters 2015 and her first season as Head Coach for the University of Pittsburgh at Greensburg women's volleyball program after serving as the program's assistant coach for the past three years. "We are very excited to promote Kylynn to the head position with our volleyball program," said Berich of Smith. "As a former standout player at the University, Kylynn knows what it takes to establish a winning tradition and her passion for the program is unparalleled. She has done a tremendous job with recruiting and player development as an assistant coach and now it's her turn to show her abilities as a head coach."
Smith, graduated from Pitt-Greensburg in 2010 with a degree in psychology with a minor in gender studies. She went on to graduate with a Master's degree in Clinical Mental Health Counseling from Indiana University of Pennsylvania.
A four year member of the women's volleyball team under Coach Simms, Smith appeared in 81 career matches, compiling 352 kills, 317 digs and 123 total blocks. She was also the 2010 Pitt-Greensburg Scholar-Athlete of the Year.
Aside from her duties at Pitt-Greensburg, Smith is employed in the mental health field where she works with children, adolescents and adults.
Smith replaces Leroy Simms who sat at the helm of the women's volleyball program for 12 years. Simms amassed 79 wins over his tenure and leaves Pitt-Greensburg as the programs career leader in wins.
