AMCC WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL GAME OF THE WEEK: FRANCISCAN @ PITT-BRADFORD

The first women's volleyball game of the week for the 2016 season features Pitt-Bradford, the only undefeated team in the AMCC with a 3-0 conference mark, taking on two-time defending champion Francsican University, sitting at 2-1.
In a key AMCC match up with Pitt.-Bradford on Saturday, the Franciscan volleyball team enters with a 2-1 record in the conference. Sophomore OH Maria Ciola leads the Lady Barons with 169 kills and is seventh in the league, averaging 2.68 kills per set. Freshman MH Roz Pridemore is having a stellar first season with Franciscan as the middle is hitting .249, fifth best in the AMCC, and has 94 kills so far this year. Sophomore S Becca Haven is once again an all around solid player for FUS with 94 kills and 301 assists so far. Defensively, the Lady Barons continue to play at the top of the conference. Sophomore S Callahan Hickey is fifth in the league with 255 digs while senior S Mary Moore and Ciola each have 166 and 162. Pridemore leads the AMCC with 63 total blocks this season, including 20 solo blocks and 43 block assists. The freshman is averaging 1.02 blocks per set, the only player in the AMCC to have an above 1.0 average. Moore is fourth in the AMCC with 20 service aces.
Off to its best start since 2010, Pitt-Bradford (14-3/3-0 AMCC) enters Saturday’s matchup with Franciscan having already surpassed its win total from a season ago. The Panthers’ attack is led by the duo of senior S Christina Rauh and sophomore MH Kirsten Platz. Rauh is fresh off consecutive AMCC Player of the Week honors and leads the league in assists per set (8.63) and total service aces (36). Platz ranks among the best hitters in the nation with a .426 hitting percentage and is second in the league in kills per set (3.04). Defensively, junior DS Emily Reitz leads the Panthers with 3.69 digs per set and senior OH Mandy Finch is second with 3.49. Pitt-Bradford won last year’s meeting with the Barons in four sets.
