FRANCISCAN RECEIVES TOP NOD IN WOMEN'S VOLLEYBALL PRESEASON POLL

Franciscan University narrowly edged Penn State Altoona to be selected by league coaches as the 2016 women’s volleyball preseason favorite. The Lady Lions were selected as a close second, with Penn State Behrend rounding out the third spot.
 
Mount Aloysius College senior outside hitter Lindsey Mercer has been named the 2016 AMCC Women’s Volleyball Preseason Player of the Year. Mercer was an AMCC first team all-conference selection in 2015 and a third team honoree in 2014. She finished the 2015 season fourth in the AMCC for kills per set (2.65) and third for total kills (254), while also being named AMCC Player of the Week on September 27. Mercer was voted team MVP by her teammates last season and is a Mountie team captain.

The AMCC Championship will be held November 6 at the site of the #1 seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
