WOMEN'S WRESTLERS SET FOR INAUGURAL AMCC CHAMPIONSHIP
The AMCC is excited to host its inaugural women's wrestling championship, slated for Saturday, February 7 at Alfred State College. The first bouts will begin at 10:00am.
The Alfred State women’s wrestling team enters the AMCC Championships with a 3–11 overall record and a 2–3 mark in conference competition. Senior Dianna Pineda, the reigning AMCC champion at 124 pounds, looks to defend her title this weekend on the mat. Pineda also turned in a strong postseason performance last year, placing fourth at 117 pounds at the 2024–25 NCWWC Regional Championships.
In the Bengals second season of action, Hailey Hankinson, Rosaliz Aponte, and Ceci Williams have been the most consistent members of the squad. The trio have scored in nearly every match this season with Hankinson and Williams earning wins in the Bengals last time out at the Alfred State Open. Aponte leads the team with an 8-4 record on the year.
As the Elmira College women’s wrestling team heads into the conference tournament, the Soaring Eagles do so after one of the strongest seasons in program history, highlighted by a 14–8 dual meet record against 12 nationally ranked opponents, a 6th-place finish at the National Duals, and a current No. 16 national ranking. Individually, the lineup has been led by Zoey Lints (145), who enters the postseason at 35–1 and will look to secure her 100th career win on Saturday, alongside team captain Megan Edwards (124) at 34–6. The depth continues with Gabby Bradigan (138) posting a 26–8 record and Talia Robles (160) standing at 25–11, showcasing consistency across multiple weights. As the returning Region I champions, the Soaring Eagles bring proven results, championship experience, and momentum into the conference tournament, ready to defend their status and elevate their postseason run when it matters most.
Hiram women’s wrestling enters the AMCC Championship in hopes of replicating its success from the 2025 AMCC Invitational last February, when the Terriers placed first and featured five individual winners in their respective weight classes. Among those five all-conference honorees are returning student-athletes in junior Lexi Doerflinger (117 lbs) and senior Allydia Byard (160 lbs). Doerflinger ranks second on the team in win percentage this season (61.9%), while Byard has won by fall in six of her seven victories in 2025-26. The Terriers also feature a deep first-year class on this year’s roster, including Emily Lorenzon (207 lbs, team-high 12 pins), Alazhandra Williams (180 lbs, team-high 62.1% win pct), Cicely Cullins (160 lbs, 15 wins) and Emrie Fink (145 lbs, 14 wins). As a team, Hiram is 8-18 in duals, which includes a 5-3 record against AMCC opponents.
John Carroll has enjoyed a solid year with a 10-5 duals record and strong showings in two tournaments in the last two weeks, led by a trio of first years. Addy Crane (20-10) enters on a tear at 110 pounds coming off a first-place showing at the JCU Open on February 1. Nora Mooney leads JCU in wins with a 24-6 record at 138, with back-to-back second-place showings at the Indiana Tech Open and the JCU Open. Taylor MacAdam (22-10) hopes to make an impact at 103 after enjoying some success this year.
In only its second year, Penn State Altoona went 3-10 this season, 1-4 in the AMCC, getting their first dual meet victory in program history earlier this season. Freshman Gianna Slusser leads the team in wins, posting a 17-9 record overall, including seven falls and four technical falls, wrestling at 131. Slusser also won AMCC women’s wrestler of the week for November 10-14. Fellow freshmen Naomi
