Pitt-Greensburg men's and women's cross country coach
Joyce Brobeck has announced her retirement from coaching, after
serving the last thirteen years at the helm.
Brobeck started the inaugural men's and women's cross
country teams at Pitt-Greensburg in 2002 and has been the only
coach the Bobcats have ever known.
Brobeck has coached a number of elite runners over the
years, including current junior All-Conference runner Garrett
Urban. Urban was named 2012 Newcomer of the Year his freshman
season under Coach Brobeck.
This fall, Coach Brobeck helped organize and dedicate
Pitt-Greensburg's Cross Country Invitational to former runner Aaron
Slafka, who passed away this past April. Slafka ran cross
country for Coach Brobeck from 2004 to 2007 and was an inspiration
to everyone. The meet was renamed the Aaron Slafka Memorial
Invitational this fall and will serve as a lasting memory of
Aaron's courage.
Coach Brobeck's dedication and commitment to the AMCC and
Pitt-Greensburg over the years is much appreciated and she will be
greatly missed.
We wish Coach Brobeck a very happy retirement!
