AMCC ANNOUNCES ATHLETES OF THE WEEK FOR OCTOBER 7-13, 2024
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's soccer, women's volleyball, and women's tennis for the period running from October 7-13, 2024.
The Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference (AMCC) has announced its Athletes of the Week selections in the sports of men's & women's soccer, swimming & diving, women's volleyball, and women's tennis for the period running from October 7-13, 2024.
Women's Soccer (Offensive): Alfred State F Karlee Hargather totaled two goals and one assist in last week's matchups against Hilbert and Carlow. She took five shots on goal and totaled five points on the week. Her shot percentage for the week was 40%, with her shot on goal percentage being 80%.
Women's Soccer (Defensive): PS-Behrend M Devyn Bailey was instrumental in two AMCC shutouts this week, holding Pitt-Bradford to a pair of shots and the Mounties without a shot. The defender also scored her first collegiate goal in a 4-0 win over Mount Aloysius.
Men's Soccer (Offensive): Alfred State F Ryan Masi scored two impressive goals last week in two big wins against Hilbert and Carlow. He also notched two assists, with three shots on goal, earning six points.
Men's Soccer (Defensive): Mount Aloysius D Martin Donner helped the Mountie defense to a 1-0-1 record against conference opponents last week, including a 3-0 shut out against La Roche and a 2-2 tie to Penn State Behrend. Donner would score this week for the Mounties, his fourth goal as a defender this season.
Women's Volleyball (Offensive): Mount Aloysius OH Molly Richards would post 40 kills and 49 digs on .233 hitting last week, leading the Mounties to a 2-0 record against AMCC opponents. Both five set victories would see Richards solidify her place atop the AMCC leaderboards for kills and digs, while the Mounties would record their first win against Penn State Behrend in program history.
Women's Volleyball (Defensive): La Roche MH Kalli Grine continued her great junior campaign, as the Redhawks went 2-1. On Monday against Penn State Beaver in a 3-0 sweep, Grine played just two sets, had three kills, a pair of digs, as well as a solo block. In Tuesday's tough 3-2 loss to Mt. Aloysius, Grine put together a complete all-around performance, including seven kills, two service aces, a career high 18 digs and 17 service receptions, one solo block and three assisted blocks. In the final match of the week, a 3-0 win over Pitt-Bradford, Grine added seven more kills, 11 digs, 12 services receptions with a perfect 100%, one solo block and five assisted blocks. For the week, Grine had 31 digs, 33 service receptions, including a .931% in the conference matchups, three solo blocks, eight assisted blocks, two service aces and 17 kills.
Women's Tennis: PS-Behrend SO Lindsey Kerlin went undefeated in singles and doubles action last week in three wins for the Lions. She did not give up a set point in three singles wins, including a 6-0, 6-0 victory at No. 4 singles vs. Mount Aloysius.
Men's Swimming: PS-Altoona JR Caden Traggiai won two individual swims while also being part of a relay first place finish, as the Lions tied W&J on Friday night in Penn State Altoona's season opener on the road. Caden won the 1000 Yard Freestyle with a time of 10:30.64, then later took first place in the 500 Yard Freestyle after clocking in at 5:00.64. The junior also combined with his teammates for a time of 1:31.41 to nab first place in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay. Traggiai swam the anchor leg of the final relay that earned the Lions the tie against the Presidents.
Men's Diving: PS-Behrend JR Jacob Earley tallied a pair of wins in the diving events vs. Allegheny on Saturday. He tallied a score of 179.75 on the one-meter board and a 169.40 on the three-meter board for first place.
Women's Swimming: Penn State Altoona SR Sarah Petry had two individual first places and was part of one relay first place to help the Lions defeat W&J on the road Friday night in Penn State Altoona's season opener. She placed first in the 200 Yard Freestyle with a time of 2:09.76, and she later won the 500 Yard Freestyle after clocking in at 5:50.59. She was also part of the Lions' first-place finish in the 200 Yard Freestyle Relay, in which Petry and her teammates combined for a time of 1:52.23.
Women's Diving: PS-Berhend SO Nora Blasch got points for the Lions vs. Allegheny on Saturday for coming in first on the one-meter board (174.65) and the three-meter board (174.0).
