Penn State Altoona Athletics announced on Wednesday the addition of men's and women's wrestling to its NCAA Division III varsity sport offerings.

All institution sport teams which compete for an AMCC championship may select one member from their team who displays good sportsmanship throughout the season to be a member of the All-AMCC Sportsmanship Team.

The Alfred State College wrestling team competed on Sunday at the AMCC championships, becoming the first-ever wrestling team champions of the AMCC.

The AMCC is preparing to host its Inaugural Wrestling Championship this weekend at Penn State Behrend.

Malenfant was the Pioneers' best finisher at the John Summa Invite on Saturday. Malenfant was the runner-up in the 184 lb bracket after falling by decision in the final to the No. 3 ranked NCAA DII wrestler. Malenfant started his day with two straight pinfall victories, bringing his pin total to 20 and setting a new ASC record.

Welch had a 1st-place finish in the 285-lb bracket at the Jamestown Community College Open. The senior beat Niagara Community College by decision (3-2), Ohio Wesleyan by decision (8-2) and Pitt Bradford by decision (7-2).

Malenfant placed first at the NY Collegiate Championship, scoring 23.0 team points. Malenfant went 4-0 with four pinfalls on his way to a state title at 184.

Vinci went 3-0 in dual meet action, including a major decision win and two decision wins, while competing in two different weight classes (141 and 149lb) for the Pioneers.

Johnson had an impressive debut in a Pitt-Bradford uniform, as he picked up three victories by pins in the AMCC Quad meet this weekend, wrestling in the 141 lb weight class. He started the day with a fall at 1:23 in the Panthers' win over Hiram. He followed this up with his second straight pin, winning his match in 1:29 in the victory over Penn State-Behrend. Finally, he closed the event with his most impressive bout of the day in the Panthers' loss to Alfred State. He pinned Alfred State's 2022 National Championship qualifier in just 41 seconds to give Pitt-Bradford a then 12-6 lead.

The Pitt-Bradford wrestling team hosted the inaugural AMCC quad-meet on Saturday afternoon with Alfred State College coming out victorious at the end of the day.

AMCC WRESTLERS SET TO TAKE THE MATS THIS WEEKEND IN AMCC QUAD MEET

AMCC wrestling schools will take to the mats this Satuday, January 7 at Pitt-Bradford for the AMCC Quad Meet. The meet will feature the only official AMCC competition in the first season of wrestling being a conference-sponsored sport.

Gietler had a strong week for Pitt-Bradford, going 3-1 in dual matches while wrestling above his normal weight class. Gietler started his week by picking up a win by fall against Penn State-Behrend in 6:07. At the Lycoming Duals, Gietler went 2-1 on the day. He lost a tough match by decision against Oswego State and then won by fall at 4:58 against Keystone and earned the Panthers' only points in a loss to Lycoming as he won by a 20-7 major decision.
