The AMCC is proud to recognize nine teams for earning the highest collective grade point average in their peer sports as winners of the Team Peak Performer Awards.
A trio of AMCC student-athletes have been honored by national organizations for their academic achievements.
Pitt-Bradford junior Sarah Foley, who led the Panthers to the AMCC title in the league's first season of championship competition, is the AMCC Women's Bowling Player of the Year.
Foley bowled a team (and tournament) high 252 during the team format of the AMCC Championships for a total pin fall of 1206, the highest individual effort. Her 201 average led all bowlers during the tournament through the team format and helped the Lady Panthers finish 4-2 for that portion of the tournament. During the Baker matches, Foley continued her hot streak to lead Pitt-Bradford to a 3-0 finish and the conference title.
Entering the competition as the #3 seed, Pitt-Bradford won the AMCC women's bowing championship on Sunday to claim the first title in conference bowling history.
With a total pinfall of 4,468, #3 seed Pitt-Bradford leads the inaugural AMCC championship by 65 pins after the first day of competition.
Pitt-Bradford will play host to the inaugural AMCC women's bowling championship this weekend at Byllye Lanes.
At the Saint Francis University Red Flash Invitational, Foley averaged 182.8 during the team format of the competition. She also bowled a team-high 224 during the third game.
Suchonic held the Lady Lions together with strong, consistent bowling during the Kutztown Invitational. During Friday’s baker matches, the freshman averaged a team-best 16.7 in 40 frames. On Saturday in the team match format, Suchonic bowled all six games and averaged 165.33 for a 992 total pinfall, both team-highs. She also bowled the highest score for the Lady Lions with a 196 in one game. In Sunday’s baker matches, Brea again led the team with an average of 16.68 for 40 frames.
Marthage led the team to a great start Saturday in the AMCC quad, averaging 193.3 on a 580 three game series. She also played a vital role in the team's 3-0 record in Sunday's Baker matches. Marthage’s performance helped carry the Mavericks to their first tournament victory in 6 years.
Penn St. Altoona swept all three conference opponents after Day One of the AMCC quad match hosted by Medaille College.
It came down to the total pin fall tiebreak for Medaille College to be declared the winner of the second regular season AMCC quad match.
With four member member institutions sponsoring women's bowling in 2013-14, the Allegheny Mountain Collegiate Conference proudly announces the inaugural season of their sixteenth league championship.
Foley bowled a combined 423 in two games during the dual match portion of the contest to help the Panthers defeat Medaille,1695 – 1473. Foley hit a season-high 240 in the second game.
