  • HUTCHINSON NAMED MT. ALOYSIUS HEAD MEN'S & WOMEN'S SOCCER COACH

    On Monday, Laurence Hutchinson was named the Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach at Mount Aloysius College. Hutchinson was the Associate Head Soccer Coach for the Men’s and Women’s programs during the 2018 season. During 2018, he helped the Men’s program to 15 wins and an appearance in the AMCC semi-finals. The Women’s program won, a record, 14 games and made their first-ever appearance in the AMCC Championship Game. He was also part of the coaching staff from 2016-17, as a Graduate Assistant with the Men’s team. Hutchinson was part of 26 wins during that period, including a program-record, 16 wins in 2017. Both years, the program made an appearance in the AMCC Tournament. Hutchinson played college soccer at Tennessee Wesleyan, prior to joining the staff at Mount Aloysius. He earned All-Conference honors while at Tennessee Wesleyan and helped them to an NAIA Tournament appearance. He is a 2016 graduate of Tennessee Wesleyan, with a degree in Exercise Science. He earned his Master’s Degree in Business Administration from Mount Aloysius in 2018. Hutchinson is a native of Middlesborough, England. In addition, Interim Head Coach Adam Sprague has been elevated to Co-Head Men’s and Women’s Soccer Coach. After a successful season on the sidelines that saw the teams win a combined 27 games, Sprague will be back in 2020. Hutchinson and Sprague will share coaching duties, as well as recruiting and day-to-day operations. Sprague will also step into the Athletics Compliance Coordinator position at Mount Aloysius, in addition to his coaching responsibilities.

  • Tori Conroy, Pitt-Greensburg, Women's Soccer - Defensive

    Conroy started both AMCC Tournament games for Pitt-Greensburg this past week where she played every minute of the matches against D'Youville and Penn State Behrend. Conroy was a driving force on defense that helped propel Pitt-Greensburg to a 1-0 overtime victory over D'Youville and post the team's 15th shutout of the year. Against Behrend, Conroy helped settle the team down after the Lions cut the deficit to one on in the 77th minute. Following the goal, Conroy and the top-ranked Pitt-Greensburg defensive unit did not allow a shot attempt over the final 13 minutes of regulation, and held the Lions without a corner kick opportunity in the second half of play.
  • Erika Caldro, Pitt-Greensburg, Women's Soccer - Offensive

    Caldro started both AMCC Tournament games for Pitt-Greensburg this past week, where she helpd the Bobcats to a 1-0 overtime victory over D'Youville in the AMCC Semifinals and a 3-2 win over Penn State Behrend on Saturday in the AMCC Championship. Caldro tallied a shot and had a shot on goal in the AMCC semifinal win over the Spartans and gave the Bobcats a 2-1 advantage heading into halftime against Behrend, with her first goal of the season, which came just over three minutes before the break. Caldro's goal gave the Bobcats momentum into halftime and helped carry them to the program's first AMCC Tournament Title and NCAA Berth.

    Davey earned two shutouts in a 2-0 week for the Mounties. Her first shutout against Franciscan included five saves and clinched a home playoff game. On Saturday, she added another shutout against Franciscan, with two saves, to move the Mounties into the AMCC Semifinals.
  • Jordan Pachla, D'Youville College, Women's Soccer - Offensive

    Pachla came up huge for the women's soccer team this past week, netting two game-winners. Beginning last Tuesday against Alfred State, Pachla scored her eighth goal of the season as she netted the game-winner in the 63rd minute on a beautiful free kick. In the team's first round playoff game on Saturday, Pachla netted the game winner in the 82nd minute to lift D'Youville to a 2-1 playoff victory over Penn State-Altoona. Pachla is second on the team in goals (9), points (21), and is tied for second in assists (3).

    Yoder had a fantastic week in goal for Pitt-Greensburg and helped guide the Bobcats to wins over Mt. Aloysius and Penn State Behrend. With the win over Behrend, Pitt-Greensburg clinches its first-ever AMCC regular-season title and clinches both the top seed and home field through the upcoming postseason tournament. Yoder made three saves in the 3-1 victory over Aloysius and put together arguably her best performance of the season against Behrend, stopping a season-high 13 shots to post her 16th win and 12th shutout of the season. Yoder set the tone early in the first half against the Lions as she stopped a Behrend breakaway and made a fantastic kick save to keep the game scoreless. The sophomore netminder leads the conference in wins, save percentage, goals against, as well as goals-against-average.
  • Tiffany Michalek, Pitt-Greensburg, Women's Soccer - Offensive

    Michalek was a driving force in helping guide the Pitt-Greensburg women's soccer team to key victories this past week over Mt. Aloysius and Penn State Behrend. With the two wins, Pitt-Greensburg clinches its first-ever AMCC Regular Season title and the #1 seed and home field throughout the upcoming Postseason Tournament. This past week, Michalek totaled two goals and added an assist for a total of five points. Michalek knocked in the third goal of the match for Pitt-Greensburg against the Mounties and put the Bobcats ahead 1-0 with the first goal of the contest against Behrend. Pitt-Greensburg's victory over Behrend was just the third time in program history the Bobcats defeated the Lions and the first win in the series since the 2015 season. Following a third-team All-Conference selection as a freshman, Michalek has been even better this season, ranking second in the conference in goals, points, and is third in assists.

    Yoder posted wins in both of Pitt-Greensburg's games this past week...Yoder made six saves in the 4-1 victory at Franciscan and recorded four stops en route to her school-record 10th shutout of the season at Alfred State...The sophomore goalie has allowed just four goals this season and currently leads the conference in wins, save percentage, goals allowed, and goals-against-average...Yoder ranks amongest the nation's best in several categories including save percentage (5th) and goals-against-average (9th).

    Lucas continued her remarkable freshman season with two great performances this past week in Pitt-Greensburg's victories at Franciscan and Alfred State. Lucas tallied four goals and dished out an assist for a total of nine points over the two-game span. The freshman notched her second hat-trick of the season in the 4-1 victory at Franciscan and followed with a goal and an assist at Alfred State on Saturday afternoon. Lucas has now scored in 11-straight games and in 14 of the 15 games this season. She currently leads the country in goals (21), points (52), and game-winning-goals (10). With the wins, Pitt-Greensburg remains undefeated at 15-0-0 overall and 7-0-0 in the AMCC.

    Ostrich went 2-0 this week, allowing only one goal over two matches against La Roche and Pitt-Bradford. With 11 saves on the week, Ostrich recorded a saves per game average of 5.50 and a save percentage of .917.
  • Makenna Magee, D'Youville College, Women's Soccer - Offensive
    October 14, 2019
    Magee continued to be a force in conference play for the Spartans, adding three goals to her season total. Magee scored a pair of goals in the team's 8-0 win over Hilbert on Wednesday evening as she took just two shots in the game - both resulting in goals. Then on Saturday against Mount Aloysius, Magee scored the lone goal in the 1-1 2OT draw against the Mounties. Magee has already scored a career high seven goals on the season, which ties her for third in the conference. Magee has been very efficient this season, as she has taken just 17 shots this season, 14 of which have been on goal and seven of which have gone in - meaning she scores on 50% of her shots on goal.

    The AMCC women's soccer game of the week is a clash between the Lions of Penn State Altoona and Penn State Behrend. The Lady Lions from Altoona enter the game of the week with a 2-2-1 AMCC record, while the Behrend Lions are 3-0-1 in conference play.
  • Isabelle Orange, La Roche University, Women's Soccer - Defensive

    Orange helped the Redhawks to a 2-0 week, recording six saves in 180 minutes of play-time, including a 1-0 overtime victory vs. Mt. Aloysius. The victory against Mt. Aloysius is Orange's second shutout win this season and the third of her career.
  • Brenna McGuire, Penn State Behrend, Women's Soccer - Offensive
    October 07, 2019
    McGuire started in two games for the Lions this week tallying three goals, including one game-winner. She scored both of her team's goals against D'Youville on Tuesday in a 2-1 win in double OT. McGuire scored a goal with seven minutes remaining in the game to force overtime and again to seal the win in the second overtime. McGuire also scored a goal against Franciscan in a 2-1 win.

  • Cassie Brooks, D'Youville College, Women's Soccer - Defensive

    Brooks had yet another impressive game at both ends of the field in Saturday's 2-1 victory over La Roche. Brooks tallied her second assist of the season on the team's first goal of the game in the win over the Redhawks. On the defensive end, Cassie helped limit La Roche to just eight shots, five of which were on goal. Her play at both ends of the field have been impressive this season as she is tied for the team lead in assists and is tied for second in goals with two ? all from her left back position.
