PENN ST. BEHREND IS COACHES' PICK TO WIN IT ALL IN 2014

With eight first place votes, Penn State Behrend is the strong favorite selected by AMCC coaches to successfully defend their AMCC title in 2014.  Pitt Bradford was voted to finish second and D’Youville College likely to take third.

Pitt-Bradford’s Melissa Smith was tabbed as the 2014 AMCC Pre-Season Offensive Player of the Year. Smith was selected as the 2013 AMCC Offensive Player of the Year and Newcomer of the Year, as well as being selected to the AMCC All-Conference First Team. In 2013, she led the AMCC in overall goals, AMCC goals, overall points, and AMCC points. She also led the conference in AMCC shots, tied #1 in both overall and AMCC game-winning-goals, and scored 3 consecutive hat-tricks in conference play.

Penn St. Behrend’s Shelby Lloyd was selected as the 2014 AMCC Pre-Season Defensive Player of the Year. The two-year team captain was tabbed as the Lions’ Rookie of the Year as a freshman. She has the ability to play in both the midfield and back for the Lions.

The AMCC championship will be held November 8 at the site of the highest remaining seed, with the winner earning the conference’s automatic bid to the NCAA tournament.
